Optic Test Tower

Glyndwr University’s research and development of the parabolic shaped mirrors for the Space Telescope . This construction project required the installation of an extremely accurate measuring instrument mounted on a 35m high tower. The tower made of a large steel frame construction was founded on in-situe Auger Bored Piled Foundations .

The top of the tower where the measuring instruments are to be installed is constructed some 8m high above the line of the existing roof. This required a very large opening to be formed in the existing roof construction to accommodate the height of the tower. The tower being enclosed by a steel frame and insulated cladding to walls and roof.
